So too for humans when we follow the perpetual example of the trees and take time to ground our awareness within our own bodies as well as the firm Earth beneath us. Our ability to expand our perspective is greatly enhanced and the inner wellspring we tap into allows us to serve our gifts up and bless the world as best we can. Wheels within wheels.

We offer this song as an invocation. 

That a new cycle of peace, prosperity, wellness, and wisdom may emerge from the cycles of violence and trauma for many generations that have brought us to current times.

That whatever our names for God and whoever are ancestors were, we hold ourselves and all human beings to be sacred temples for the Souls who we are.

That our culture and civilization finally blossom to reflect the true nature of the human heart and its capacity for Love with freedom, justice, equality, and equity for All.

In this video, we are so excited to feature Melvin AC Howell as he dances this prayer, moving through grey skies as he awakens to his power and embodies the rhythm of the Sun as the Initiator of Life Force, and Nex Millen as he spins, cuts, and scratches the cycles of the record and entrains the new rhythms.  We play the roles of scribe/narrator and melodic priestess to tell the story and consecrate the offering.

This song features musical contributions from Kyle Nuccilli on bass, Kennedy Oneself on didgeridoo, Micah Leath on violin, and Nex Millen on turntable, plus the mixing and mastering wizardry of Anthony Thogmartin. 

We're so grateful to our friends Zac Hudson for the videography and Joe Plenys for editing this video into its beautiful and hypnotic fruition.

Ultimately, we hope this song speaks for itself.  For us, it's a song we sing simply to remind ourselves to live in a way of constantly wondering what it's like to see through the eyes of the other people that we encounter, and to richly appreciate the similarities and differences of the human race.  As we pieced the video together, in such deep appreciation for all of our friends and community members who contributed their eyes and gaze to this project, we were continually mesmerized with the beauty and power of everyone's eyes.  

From brown to blue to hazel to green, dark skin, light skin, everything in between, wide, narrow, old, young, somewhere in the middle, representing ancestors from many regions of six continents (no penguins), of every gender identity, with an incredible diversity of life experiences shared in their stories, a myriad of spritual ideas and practices, and every single eye as captivating, evocative, and awe-inspiring as the one before.  And in the center of each iris a small black dot, its name synonomous with student, a hole beneath a lense, an absence, a presence.  This pupil in its striated ring,  akin to the ancient Egyptian hieroglyph for the sun ʘ and perhaps the simplest visual representation of the infinite possibilty of light, energy, and consciousness, a commonality that connects us all together as we gaze through our unique windows on the world.  

While a constant learning experience, we also had a blast picking locations in and around Asheville to film.  There are scenes from Pack Place, Dobra Tea, River Arts Skate Park, Burton St. Peace Garden, The Herbiary, Lexington Ave., Market St., the Flat Iron Sculpture, Sacred Mountain Sanctuary, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Craggy Gardens, footage from shows at the Grey Eagle, Salvage Station, 3 Days of Light Gathering, two different pop-up shows at the corner of Biltmore/Patton, many excursions to film details and most importantly, many rendezvous with wonderful people to capture a few seconds of footage for the eye montages...

We'd like to extend our deepest gratitude to Blue Cobalt of Living Paradise, who brought the vision of the song to life, who performed cinematography, kept the batteries charged, and the cameras ready on short notice, then edited the 12+ hours of footage into six and a half minutes...
